Describe a time you spent a lot of money on something

 

Hello, dear audience, 

Today I will focus on the IELTS speaking challenge about the topic "a time I spent a lot of money on something."

Let's start :- 

A time when I spent a lot of money was last year, when I bought a new smartphone. My old phone had become very slow, and the battery didn’t last even half a day. So I decided to buy a Samsung Galaxy S23, which was quite expensive for me.

I bought it in July 2024, right after finishing my semester exams. I purchased it from a well-known mobile shop in Bashundhara City, Dhaka. I chose that shop because they sell original products with official warranty, and I felt safe buying a costly phone from there.

I spent a lot of money mainly because I needed a reliable phone for studying, making videos, and staying connected with my students and friends. The camera quality and performance were much better, which helped me create educational content more easily. Even though the price was high, I felt it was a useful investment and I was very happy with my decision.
